Working the way it's supposed to be done

I have two of these testers and am very pleased with the ease of use and accuracy of the results. It is a must have tool if you have multiple cars and boats with multiple batteries.

I use it all the time on my car batteries and it has worked well so far.

It's surprisingly accurate and only takes a couple of seconds to test the battery. I compared the results I got from the store's 1500 battery tester, which normally takes a few minutes, and it gave me nearly identical readings for a fraction of the cost and time. Now I'll still have to use the store's tester for warranty purposes, but for everything else I'm using this little device and couldn't be happier.

I have a collection of cars and motorcycles and I constantly monitor the air pressure. I also have a truck that requires 65 psi and my gauge cannot measure it. I also have a bus that requires 130 psi. The new gauge does it all.

It seems good. I tested it with a battery that I knew more or less the condition of and the meter confirmed it. So, without further background, I would say it works well.

I'm not a big fan of reading instructions and with this you may not need to. Two days after receiving it I was at a restaurant where my friend's car would not start. I was able to immediately diagnose that the battery was running at half capacity and checked again after jump starting the car. Even running the sensor showed a fault with the battery but that it was good enough to drive and replace it. It wasn't one of those jump starts that requires leaving the lights on and it saved her from getting stuck again and possibly breaking down.

This is a great tool for determining battery health. I have a campground and a bunch of equipment batteries that I need to maintain over the winter. I bought this tool so I can figure out whether or not I should replace a battery in the spring before it fails mid season when I can't afford to waste time.

I bought this tester to test a battery that had frozen. After charging it, the battery performed fine. However, this tester also showed that it had an abnormally high self discharge rate. This is the kind of thing I wanted to know and it showed it clearly.

The instruction manual is not very helpful. The print is too small to read and it is written in poor English. Here are some instructions I wrote up that may be easier to follow… 1. Turn off the engine, open the hood, and connect the cables to the car battery terminals. The red cable connects to the positive terminal and the black cable connects to the negative terminal. The cable clamps do not open very far, but they work fine if connected to any metal connected to a terminal, for example a bolt or nut. 2. The main menu will appear on the screen with 4 options: a Check b Review c Setup d About Use the arrows to highlight the "Setup" option and its functions. Press the "Enter" button to configure the device for your car. Then use the arrows and "Enter" button to select the "Check" option. That's what starts the tests. 3. The screen will display a choice between these 2 options: a In Vehicle b Out of Vehicle If you are testing with the battery installed in the car, use the arrows to highlight "in vehicle" and press the "Enter" button. 4. The screen will display a choice between 3 tests: a Battery Test b Cranking Test c Charging Test Use the arrows to highlight each test. Press the "Enter" button to run the test. Follow the instructions on the screen. 5. The screen may display a message asking you to turn the car's headlights on for about 10 seconds and then off. If so, do so. You will need to put the key in the ignition and turn it, but not all the way to start the engine.

It works as advertised and provides information about the battery, crankshaft, and load of any vehicle.

I like the small size and ease of use. It works great for testing a battery to see if it needs replacing. I tested my lawnmower battery and it only took a couple of minutes to tell me it needed replacing.

Works great. I checked my battery with this device and it was easy to use and accurate. It showed that I had a bad cell when the dealer said I had a good battery. I went to Advanced Auto and got a better battery with a warranty and they installed it for free. I highly recommend this device.

I wish I could test batteries below 100 CCA, I have several bikes and I can't test them

just bought this two days ago. So far so good. It tested my boat batteries and my van battery, starter system, and charging system. One of the boat batteries tested poorly, as expected, so it seems to be everything I wanted in a tester. Plus it comes with a cable to hook it up to a computer. I can print out the results if I want to. I'm giving it 5 stars until I do.

The device performed a basic cranking amp test with the same result replacement as the auto parts store. It confirmed that the new battery was in good condition. There are many other tests listed, but no information is provided on them.

The tool is powered by the battery you are testing. If the battery is completely discharged, a power cord is included to separately power the test device.

I tested my car battery with this and it seems to be pretty accurate.

You need to make sure you have a good clean connection or the readings will not be accurate. It may say you have a "bad" battery, but when you make a better connection it will show up as "good". I used this on 6 new batteries and they all showed up as "bad" until I made a better connection. I don't have anything to compare its accuracy to, but it seems good. The readout is clear and easy to read.

What a great battery tester. It's completely intuitive to use I didn't have to look at any instructions. You plug it into the battery and the device guides you through the steps required. I am very, very pleased with this purchase. No more need to go to the auto parts store to request a battery test.

Very easy to use. I love it. I have used it a few times to check the batteries in my toy hauler, motorcycle, and cars after they have been sitting for a while to see if they were dead or had gone bad. This little device has not let me down since. I plug it in and do a few clicks of the buttons and there is the reading. This has helped me a few times already. For the price, it is perfect if you are not going to use it professionally or for everyday use. For someone like me who needs it from time to time at home for their toys or vehicles, it is perfect.

It will give a rough idea of the battery charge condition. It doesn't directly read CCA, but I bought it for my wife because it's easier to get a rough idea without her touching my 300 Fluke meter.

It is necessary to read the manual carefully several times. Once this is done, the device works perfectly and is easy to understand. The only problem that prevents it from getting 5 stars is that the "Quick Test" function requires a minimum of 30 Ah, more than a small motorcycle battery for example, the very common Yuasa YTX 9, which is around 10 Ah. The other tests seem to work with that battery, but I am not sure that the results are correct.

wanted something inexpensive to monitor both of my car batteries. I haven't done much testing yet, but what I did seemed to work well, I didn't want to spend a lot of money and this met my expectations.

Very fast and comprehensive battery tester. Works inside and outside the vehicle and on several types including AGM. I took away 1 star because it does not test batteries with low amperage load levels, such as those found in motorcycles.

was impressed with how my mechanic's portable battery tester worked. I bought this one after evaluating others. He arbitrarily checked my son's car and the battery was GOOD CHARGE needed. He didn't have time at the time but scheduled an appointment for 5 days later. Wrong! Difficulty starting car after several days. Tester stated REPLACE. I conveniently replaced it at home instead of on the road somewhere and all is well. Neither my family, friends nor I have anything to do with this company…but they are GREAT!

What didn't make the grade of 5 was the manual that came with it. The font was so small that it was almost impossible to read without straining. The best alternative is to look for a video online that provides much clearer instructions.

Always use it, before recharging the boat batteries and after charging them off the boat. It is very easy to use and gives me the information I need. It can also be used when the batteries are connected to the boat.

Simple operation good value for money.

It saved me the headache of having to have the shop charge and test my battery and having to make a second 30 minute round trip. I simply took a picture of the screen where it said to replace the battery and they did it on the spot!

For the price, you can't beat it. I work in a professional shop and use it quite often. It tests battery health and charge level. It also does cranking and alternator tests. I compared my results to another high end load tester I have that is a bit larger and bulkier with the same results. It doesn't provide a charge to the battery, but just turning on the lights and AC fan simulates that. Which it tells you to do anyway. Very easy to use. The display is backlit and easy to read. Great for the price!

He told me that my 4Runner's battery needs to be replaced, and sure enough, the battery stopped working. He bypassed my other batteries. I think every car owner should have this type of device to check their batteries before they unexpectedly die. It's very easy to use and very small in size. I wish they had provided some kind of case to properly store it in. Once you take it out of a box, you're unlikely to be able to put it back in with the cables.

One very nice feature is that it does not need internal batteries to operate, so there is no worry about leaks damaging this tool, which is probably not used too often. It is great for any car owner and especially if you have a boat or RV. It is necessary to know the amp hour rating of a battery to get a proper assessment of the battery's condition. That rating seems common on newer batteries marked directly on the battery, but less common on older batteries.

I was able to help determine if my boat battery needed replacing. I was also able to check the health of my vehicle battery as well as charging and starting. The user interface is simple, but that's fine by me. The results are fast within seconds and repeatable.

It's a very good tool for the money, but it doesn't have the features or build quality that other battery testers have it's definitely a good tool, but it won't last forever.

I actually decided I really liked it after figuring out how to set it up… The manual is poor ugh… It helped me analyze a battery issue I was dealing with… I feel confident recommending it.

Its simplicity is its best quality. Just follow the on screen instructions and you'll get what seems like an accurate assessment of your battery. I had a peculiar problem with the battery and noticed the voltage dropping to about 10V under a small load. The tester said I needed to replace it due to a bad cell. This made perfect sense when looking at a voltmeter in use. For the price, it's a great piece of equipment.

This product is really great. I love that it doesn't need its own batteries to work. You just plug it in and use it. The instructions are simple and you'll be using it within a couple of minutes of opening it. I tested an old motorcycle battery, a new car battery, and a new motorcycle battery. The results this product provided were as expected. For the price, you can't beat this handy diagnostic tool.

The device is fairly intuitive to use, which is good since there is no documentation on it. However, chances are that if you have some understanding of vehicle electricity, you can use it.

This tester is easy to read and fairly simple to use. The only concern I have is the accuracy of some of the readings, as I tested a couple of new batteries and found them to have low CCA.

It's a simple tool, but it seemed to work. I was having slow clicking issues on my BMW E90. The clock also seemed to reset itself after a while. The auto parts store nearby tested my battery for good, but this one said it was time to replace it. I'm usually not one to trust cheap consumer diagnostic tools over tools I assume are "professional" but that battery was old enough that it was keeping time anyway. Well, replacing the battery fixed my clock issues and it was thanks to this guy.

It is not big or bulky

carry this tester with me every time I go to buy a new battery. I know that many new batteries are not fully charged, but it is surprising how many batteries are not in good condition either. One retailer was shocked to see that every battery of a certain style he stocked returned a "bad battery replace" result, while other batteries of the same size, of a different style, returned a result of 95 100% good. He used his much larger and more expensive tester to check. This tester would still be indispensable at twice the price.

It is very easy to use, the instructions are pretty clear and straightforward, the results are hard to quantify but I have tested batteries that have been returned as replacements and also whether they are good or bad and it is very difficult to determine its accuracy but I am very pleased with my purchase.

bought this unit because I wanted to be able to monitor the charge of my car battery while it was still installed in the car. For me, recharging means removing the battery. This product does that well. The manual could include more explanations of terms, such as what the various standards are e.g. SAE, JDIS, etc.. The printing software for me was an afterthought in terms of importance, and when I tried it, it was pretty basic. Nowhere does it explain that it is Windows only and lacks a security certificate. I tried it on several computers. It works fine on Win 7, but not on Win 10 it doesn't recognize the tester plugged into the USB port. Clearly, it needs to be updated for the latest versions of Windows.

You will be able to make the right decision about the remaining life of your 12V battery.

The unit is small, lightweight, and fits nicely in your hand. I've only used it with a couple of batteries so far, but it works great and lets you know if you need to replace the battery or just charge it. Plus, it tells you how many CCA the battery is putting out, which is nice too.

I just received it a few days ago. So far I'm very impressed! I'm a professional marine technician and have used a couple of battery testers that were much more expensive. For the price, this little tester does a lot and seems to read accurately. The quality seems just as good as units that cost at least twice as much.

Pros: Compact, feature packed, affordable. Cons: Very slow navigation. Enter button is likely to fail after frequent uses. I just received mine today and used it a couple of times to get familiar with it. As a result, the Enter button is now permanently lower than the other buttons. Well, that's what I paid for the value.

Everything I needed to test the battery and alternator.

I use it to check my car battery and I really like this product. The only thing that can happen is that the cables are not very long, but for me it is not a problem if the cables can be longer this tester will be perfect.

didn't know a tool like this existed for under 20. It's a must have accessory for periodically testing car batteries so you're not left stranded, or as in my case, I was able to test the Costco battery that needed replacing. It was still under warranty and they gave me a new one. The battery can be tested while it's still connected. Everyone needs this handy little device. It doesn't require batteries as it uses the car battery as a power source.

haven't had it for very long, so I don't know if it will last. But it did tell me that two of the eight vehicles tested needed new batteries. That alone saved me a lot of unexpected trouble. Luckily, mine came ready to run in English. The menus are generally intuitive. I used mostly CCA, as only one battery was labeled well enough to use the 45Ah quick test.

It works great and is accurate as far as I can tell. Just make sure the clips are fastened securely and there is as much contact area as possible on the battery terminals. If only the bottom half is in contact, for example, you will get incorrect readings because not as much current can be drawn.

Please tell me my battery died and why I took it in for a check up and they told me the same thing. We will keep this for my caravan batteries. For the price it is a must have item.

Great little device with a lot of features. I was initially frustrated with the unit because as another reviewer mentioned, when doing a quick battery test, the unit asked for the amp hour rating of the battery… that's not something used in the US for car batteries. We use CCA or cold cranking amps. Anyway, after reading the manual and doing a regular battery test, it asked me what unit of measurement I used… I selected CCA and all is well now. Even the quick test now uses CCA. For its size, it packs a lot of features. If I were to buy another one, I'd maybe go with this one's bigger brother, the BA301, but my 101 works fine.

Every time your battery is dead, it's 12 degrees and raining outside, the kids are crying, and you're late for work. This is an amazing tool to check your car's battery life. It's easy to use and seems very accurate. I'll probably add a battery test to my regular maintenance schedule now, and I bet it will save me from the unexpected dead battery that always happens at the worst time. You should probably buy one of these and maybe you won't have to go through all that.

I had a problem with my tool cart at work. It was very easy to use, both connected and disconnected. I'm not a mechanic, but doing a quick check helped me verify the 6 batteries in the cart.

bought this product to test the battery of an old car I own. After watching a quick video online, I was able to successfully test my battery. The battery was fine, but the alternator was bad. I honestly didn't even need to watch the video because the on screen instructions were perfect. At this price, I'll probably be buying a couple more of these for my family members. It certainly beats taking out a battery and driving to the auto parts store to have it tested.
