Use this to reset the check engine light and view basic information. I have seen people use this to pass smog tests on older vehicles that don't really give much information on the smog test, so as long as the check engine light isn't on you will pass the test.

Surprisingly easy to use. Large, clear display. Worked on all 6 cars I have access to. My old ODB reader didn't work on Mini Coopers. This one did. Showed all the expected errors I knew from other readers. Even showed me info on my batteries that I would normally need to get from my advanced battery charger. I'm glad I got it. I bought a new battery. I started having problems with the new battery after a few days. I took the battery back to get a replacement. The company said no because it was in good condition they didn't test it. I took the employee to my vehicle reinstalled the new battery and showed him with this battery reader that the new battery had a low voltage. I got my replacement and even tested the new battery to make sure the company wasn't trying to give me another low voltage battery.

I used this device to diagnose a check engine light I have on my Toyota Prius. It was easy to use. Just plug it into the OBD2 slot and press enter. 6 codes came up and I was able to clear them. This handy little scanner will read codes and allow you to reset them. It also has live view for certain things.

So far I've only tried it on a Toyota. But it reads codes quickly, resets easily… basic and cheap… but works great if you don't need the numerous modules ABS, TPMS, etc. and just want basic factory OBD2 messages. I like to have a cheap code reader with me in the toolbox on trips, if the check engine light comes on, just to see how critical the item is and if I can keep driving if it's a small evaporative leak or catalytic converter efficiency etc. or if I have a real problem with the fuel delivery or ignition components. It works great for this.

This OBD2 is very easy to use. My Expedition was idling a little rough so I ordered it to see if it would throw a trouble code. Sure enough the P1100 code popped up immediately with an intermittent mass airflow sensor. This means it needs to be cleaned or the air filter may be dirty. It literally takes 2 minutes to diagnose and a few minutes to remove, clean and replace the sensor. This reader saved me time and hassle resulting in a quick and inexpensive fix to the problem. I am very happy with it. Recommended.

ordered this device to help me troubleshoot the constant issues I have with my car. I have a Hyundai Santa Fe and was able to research the code it was throwing. It turns out that a LOT of Hyundais have the same issue and it is part of the lawsuit related to their engines. Mine burns oil for no reason and has no leaks, but it sets off the "knock sensor" constantly. I was able to reset the code so I could get the vehicle out of "limp mode" and drive normally again. I guess I will now be involved in a lawsuit for this engine issue. I appreciate the device and it saved me a lot of time and money.

This is an excellent value. I like that it uses a wired connection to the connector. I took it out of the box, plugged it into the port, and all the information was right at my fingertips. The display is bright and clear, well labeled, and well laid out. It intelligently indicates if a setting needs to have the engine running, the key should only be in the ON position but not in gear, etc. It even indicates things like monitoring one of the battery settings that the vehicle needs to run for a while to ensure a full charge. This unit is most appealing to me because I am an infrequent user. I wanted something in my toolbox so that if a vehicle throws a code or starts acting strange, I can just pull it out and plug it in. bought this product to reset a check engine light on my vehicle. My car was running great and I couldn't find the problem so I thought I would try this OBDII scanner to reset it. It took me a while to figure out how to do it but I finally did. The only thing I wish is a more informative manual.
